Travel journal of a financial trip: Paris

28 MSc Finance students met and exchanged with major companies during an insightful trip to Paris

Coty, BPCE Group and Eight Advisory. These are the companies which opened their doors to 28 GEM MSc Finance students, on January 28th-29th. Ranked 16th worldwide in the Financial Times, this finance course provides graduates with advanced knowledge of finance in academic and professional terms. To boost the professional dimension of the program, students attended several events (meetings, conferences and network evenings) in order to get a better understanding of the financial job market in Paris. GEM Alumni Networking Event in Paris

On January 28, 2019, the MSc Finance programme from GEM (Grenoble Ecole de Management) organized an Alumni Networking Event at the restaurant Zango Les Halles in Paris. Many alumni attended, and MSc students had the opportunity to speak with many of them, including Allen Barrak (MBA, 2017), who has been working as a senior consultant in banking and financial services at Julhiet Sterwen for 2 years now. Before he joined this company, he worked as a management consultant at HSBC. We also met with Camille Verwaerde (PGE, 2016 – MIB 2015), who is working as an associate in transaction services at PwC, and Cesar Cantu (Msc Finance, 2017), who is working as a fixed income and FX exotic derivatives modelisation controller at Société Générale. From Green Giraffe, we met with Hicham Aissi (MSc Finance, 2017), who did an internship in Natixis after his graduation and now he is working as a financial adviser at Green Giraffe, and Luiz Gustavo Lafosse (PGE, 2010). We also talked with Mehdi Boukhalkhal (MSc Finance, 2017), who is working as consultant in financial risk management at Deloitte, and Philippe Millot (Msc Finance, 2017), who is a consultant CFO adviser at Sia Partners since 2017. Before securing this job, he had internships at E&Y, Groupe BPCE and BNP. He graduated from Grenoble Ecole de Management in Finance and got the diploma with merit. Finally, we had the chance to meet Yasmine Fakir (MSc Finance, 2018), who is an incoming capital markets origination analyst at Citi. Before this, she did an internship as a capital markets origination summer analyst at Citi in 2018 and an internship as a DCM analyst at SGCIB in 2017.

During the interview, we asked them two or three questions which I think will be very helpful to the current MSc Finance students who are in the process of looking for internships. Here are the transcripts of each of these interview:
